Mother and Father are still away in Egypt and so I'm still performing the tasks of a mommy. Here are some motherly things I've done so far:
*Cooking...dinner every night (even though it was just for sisters because it usually wasn't vegan), sometimes breakfast, making little sis school lunches, dessert for little sis youth group...some foods:
~tomato soup and grilled cheese
~chinese chicken salad, homemade cream cheese filled wontons
~tortilla chicken soup
~butternut squash risotto, garlic bread, caesar salad
~cheddar broccoli soup
~banana nut bread
~chocolate cupcakes with vanilla cream filling
~frosted sugar cookies
~cream cheese gooey dessert bars
~vegan pancakes for me :-)
*Cleaning...it's strange how even with minus two people, the mess multiplies by 15
*Laundry
*Dishes
*Lots of love and playing
I usually do most of these mommy duties anyway, plus many more not listed, but it just feels more real without the parents.
On a more important note...it's raining cats and dogs out and it is time to go puddle jumping! Yes puddle jumping, a lovely activity I used to do when I was younger with friends, but now I'm older and no friends live around here still. So here is my justification... The townspeople here have seen me do some pretty weird things over the years so they wouldn't think it was crazy if i am outside swimming in the puddles and splashing about all alone. They'll see me and think "Oh it's just that Mishler, we will just steer clear and let her be" and voila! my puddles and i are home free. Then i can teach the youngens the puddle jumping techniques that they don't know and I will be the leader of the puddle jumping brigade, marching through town followed by my pupils and amateur jumpers, guiding them as we perfect the art of puddle jumping.

Phobia
If you know me, you know that I have a weird phobia of talking on the phone. I just won't do it unless completely necessary, and will usually find a way out of doing it on those necessary occasions too. I don't know why, I just can't do it, and to be honest I have no desire to overcome this phobia and am completely content in my fearful phone state. Fine-- so what do I do when some creep is trying to scam me with money transfer fraud and I'm supposed to call the secret service, but looking at the phone is making me sweat a little? Mom to the rescue! Oh wait, mother and father just left for a lovely trip to Egypt (I'm so totally jeal) so I really hope Mom had time to or remembered to make that ever so important phone call before they left this morn. Oh well I guess if not I will just have to lead this poor sucker
into thinking I'm still trying to transfer money for him, but NO, none of his tom foolery will work on me! Also, I had a lovely time this weekend golfing, though putting is just about the only time I succeed in hitting the ball well or at all. I would much rather work on my golf game than picking up the phone, so please no calls, thank you.

Cat...no, bunny nap

I've tried just about every method imaginable to cure my insomnia, but still nothing proves successful. Perhaps my sleep pattern is just a symbol of my life...what are you getting at here insomnia? Try, fail, try, fail, try....success where art thou? Why is it that no matter how much I tire myself out in the day (hey, searching for jobs on craigslist while feasting on candy corn can be pretty exhausting!) I still cannot fall asleep though. I feel tired, I lay down and am in fact tired, too tired to read or get up and do something productive, but I never actually fall asleep. My brain is like a constant TV, but good shows usually aren't even on...it's like being forced to watch old re-runs of lame sitcoms in fact, the trivial and humdrum facets of life dominate most of my night. The same thoughts, worries, daydreams. Enough is enough. My current problem could be solved, I really do believe, If I get a pet bunny.
You see this is my present hang up. It's all I want and all I can think about. I really wanted to get a pet baldwin when i lived in San Diego (a hairless guinea pig), but the last were sold two days before I got to the pet store and since they are so rare I was out of luck and in tears. A bunny is my next choice, well the only option Dad will consider, and I have everything planned out-- from a bunny run in the backyard, to the carousel I will build for it, and walks using a leash or pushing it in a stroller when it's too tired. I will read to it and teach it colors and shapes and how to grow up big and strong. Also, I would like to go to the pumpkin patch and pet the goats and get a pumpkin. Life will be so simple once I can reach these all too distant seeming goals. Pray for me :-)

Today's Politits

It's finally starting to feel like fall! As I drive in the car to pick up Annie from school I'm delighted by all the beautiful leaves starting to change color, the lovely smell of fresh rain, and the...wait a second, SWEATY MAN BOOBS! That's right folks; business slacks, nice shoes, and no shirt. Now before I go on, I must give some credit to the man who was apparently playing a game of soccer with his kids and got a little too toasty. Parents go ahead and spend time interacting with your kids, show interest in their activities, but please no matter how sweaty you may get, if you are over 40 and over weight, I beg you- keep the shirt on (especially when you can nicely fill out a C cup)! My political standpoint as of today--Obama should take a break from economical issues and face the real demise of our society...sweaty man boobs!
